Strengthening Technical and Vocational Education and Training (STVET) Project

Activity: The TVET Skills Contracting Program aims to widening the national skills training base through direct support for the greater involvement of selected private TVET institutions. The project seeks to improve both the quality of, and access to, formal TVET in Lao PDR, focusing on certificate and diploma programs. Quality improvements include developing skill standards, improving curricula and training teachers in 4 priority skill areas:

(i) construction and building trades,

(ii) mechanical and machinery maintenance and repair,

(iii) furniture-making, and

(iv) basic business.

Inclusive Education Services

Activity: The existing social welfare and education system in Montenegro is in the process of intensive reforms and decisive endeavours are needed to restructure in accordance with best EU practices and in the best interest of the beneficiaries. One of the areas which require special attention is the education of excluded children. Direct beneficiaries are the MoES, the Bureau for Educational Services, Examination Centre. Indirect beneficiaries are the current and futures special education needs pupils.

Promotion of Basic Education in Afghanistan: Practical Learning and Occupational Orientation

Activity: The component “Practical learning and occupational orientation” is new in the German technical cooperation basic education program. The goal of this component is improved relevance of basic education regarding occupational orientation and practical learning.

Rapid Employment Program – Provision of Pre-Employment Training

Activity: The overall objective of the project is to assist targeted urban poor to: i) increase their incomes through the provision of short term employment; and ii) improve their knowledge, experience and basic employment skills that are valued in the work place and society. Secondary benefits accrue to the target communities/neighbourhoods and the general urban population from the infrastructure and services that are provided through the Rapid Employment Project. The project is designed as a rapid response to address unemployment, underemployment and poverty in the main urban centre of the Solomon Islands. The project also serves to increase economic productivity through investing in the maintenance of infrastructure assets, particularly roads.

National Vocational Qualifications Framework, Competency-based Curriculum and National Learning Resources Development in support of demand-driven TVET system in Mongolia

Activity: The TVET Project is one of five projects designed under the Millennium Challenge Account – Mongolia (MCA-M) to address the primary constraints to even economic growth in Mongolia. In addition to developing a National Vocational Qualifications Framework the program seeks to improve public-private partnerships in TVET, define industry-led skills training standards for occupations and trades and translate these standards into modern competency-based curricula. A new national curriculum has been integrated to Mongolia’s national education system and supported by modernized instructional equipment and technology, curriculum materials and learning resources and underpinned by improved teacher training and professional development. The project aims at securing more equitable access for Mongolians to a quality improved and relevant TVET system.

Training of 1.000 inspectors for primary and secondary schools

Activity: The overall objective is to contribute to the effort to improve the quality of education in the Democratic Republic of Congo, in accordance with the objectives of Education For All and the Millennium Development Goals, by improving the technical and managerial capacity of inspectors through targeted training. The immediate objective is the strengthening of the capacity of 1.000 inspectors from primary, secondary and vocational education so that they can more effectively perform the tasks of supervision and inspectorial control. At the end of this training activity, 500 inspectors in post primary and secondary education are able to provide better support to teachers councils and 500 new inspectors have been trained in school inspection methods, evaluation and educational disciplines.

Planning, Delivery and Follow-up of vocational trainings for Economic and Social Relaunch of Northwest Provinces in Cambodia (ECOSORN) – Lot 1, 2, 3

Activity: The overall objective of the ECOSORN project is to contribute to poverty reduction through increased household income, mainly through increased agricultural production. The project purpose is the economic and social development of the rural population in 3 north-west provinces of Cambodia, in a way that benefits equitably to both men and women. Smallholder farmers and their family members living in the project area are the primary beneficiaries of the project.

Support to the reform of Vocational Education and Training (first and second part of Second Phase)

Activity: The overall goal of the project is that the dual (cooperative) system of vocational education and training is an integral part of the national VET system and contributes to a better qualification and higher employment of graduates and employees. The goal of the second phase is that the in-company apprentice training in the sectors of textile and tourism/hotel is an accepted and integral part of vocational education that can be applied to other sectors as well.

Sustainable economic development through Vocational Education and Training
